Summary/Objective
The Vice President/Director, Investment Risk Management will join Kuvare’s newly-created Kuvare Strategic Investments (KSI) unit, which is tasked with managing Kuvare’s investment portfolio, including supervision and monitoring of external advisers. Working closely with Kuvare’s Enterprise Risk Management team, the successful candidate will be primarily responsible for maturing KSI’s investment risk management framework, including the design and implementation of investment, market and credit risk management processes, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while optimizing the risk-adjusted performance of portfolios. The candidate will also oversee valuations, model development, scenario projections and sensitivity analyses across Kuvare’s investment asset classes, and play a key role in in Kuvare’s liquidity management and hedging programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Providing appropriate insight and assurance to key internal and external stakeholders regarding current and emerging investment and market risks facing the business
- Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive investment risk strategy and framework, with supporting components including relevant policies and procedures, risk appetite, stress and scenario testing, risk management information and risk governance
- Collaborating with the internal and external asset management teams to ensure investment strategies and decisions are aligned with the enterprise’s risk appetite and objectives
- Providing risk insights and analytics to support portfolio optimization and capital allocation decisions
- Establishing and maintaining an investment risk framework covering appropriate credit risk factors across all asset classes
- Developing a systematic framework for bottoms-up scenario analysis and sensitivity testing across different investment types and portfolios
- Building and implementing automated risk and surveillance reporting for regular asset class reviews
- Assisting the Kuvare Product Development and ALM teams to evaluate and implement hedging strategies
- Staying abreast of developments in risk management practices and regulatory changes affecting the insurance industry
- Collaborating with Kuvare ERM and other internal stakeholders, including investments, asset allocation, ALM, operations, and accounting

Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with an excellent academic record; CFA and/or risk certification preferred
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in investment risk managemen within an insurance company or other financial services institution
- Experience with Intex and other structured finance modeling tools strongly preferred
- Derivatives experience preferred
