Finance- Senior Accountant

Location: Rosemont/Chicago, IL

Summary/Objective

The Senior Accountant will be a key contributor to the Finance Team during the accounting close, consolidation process and the preparation of the Company’s internal and external financial statements. This position will assist in preparing financial statements for both statutory and GAAP reporting, as well as various ad hoc reporting for the management team.

Duties and Responsibilities 

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to All Accountant & Intermediate Accountant responsibilities, in addition to the following:

  • Responsible for the accounting of complex transactions typically associated with advanced accounting,
    such as processing financial transactions in foreign currencies and assisting in the preparation of financial
    reports and analysis for multiple legal entities
  • Researches and propose solutions to complex accounting issues for both statutory and US GAAP
  •  Effectively applies fundamental accounting concepts; works on complex assignments, with limited
    oversight; makes recommendations for changes to procedures, and performs varied work, requiring some
    originality or ingenuity
  •  Participates in monthly/quarterly/annual accounting processes to ensure accuracy and completeness of
    financial transactions
  •  Develops nonstandard reports and statements. Prepares information for use by a higher authority;
    communicates methodology and areas of concern
  • Understands the flow of information, financial systems, appropriate reporting tools and uses knowledge to
    troubleshoot issues
  • Participates in or leads team projects
  • Works with both internal and external sources to ensure proper reporting of financial data
  • Seeks out potential areas for improvement by documenting existing business processes and identifying
    controls and deficiencies
  •  Prepares and/or review appropriate ledger entries & reconciliations, and ensures resolution of reconciling
    items
  • Manages, monitors, and analyzes the Company’s financial transactions, and review financial statements for
    accuracy & completeness
  • May have supervisory responsibilities, review work, or train other team members

Requirements

Experience

  • Bachelors’ degree in Accounting or equivalent education/experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience
  •  CPA and/or Master’s degree preferred
  • Advanced computer skills
  •  Strong knowledge of GAAP and statutory accounting principles

  • Expert knowledge of accounting and financial principles, regulations, and best practices
  •  Highly organized with keen attention to detail
  • Proficient with data analysis, critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • PC literacy with knowledge of technological tools and their applications
  •  Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related systems, including but not limited to
    SunGard EAS, Oracle, Wings, etc.
  •  Self-starter and has the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills including the ability to manage effective relationships with
    business units, external auditors, and management
  •  Ability to work with all levels of the organization
  •  Ability to understand, research and solve complex problems independently
  •  Forward-thinking, ethical, and proactively addresses issues and implements best practices
