Summary/Objective
This is a critical leader for Kuvare, responsible for all reinsurance-related activities for all entities of Kuvare US. The position requires partnering with actuarial, finance, investments (KIS), risk, legal, operations, tax, including direct and dotted line reports, as well as our strategic external parties.
The AVP & Actuary, Reinsurance Strategy and Operations role will
- Work with the Chief Actuary to develop strategies for optimizing the reinsurance position of the company and affiliates and will be responsible for implementing those strategies
- Develop and implement the reinsurance components of the company’s capital optimization strategies
- Managing the Reinsurance risk profile of the companies
- Overseeing all reinsurance relationships with external partners
- Be responsible for all aspects of reinsurance activities to the Presidents/CFOs of the affiliated carriers
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Develop reinsurance RFPs, risk transfer memos, change memos, and management presentations on topics as needed
- Build and maintain innovative tools to assist in reinsurance analysis for both new business and inforce blocks
- Lead analysis to support business decisions, communicate recommendations, coordinate sign-off, and ensure effective implementation of new/modified reinsurance initiatives
- Lead implementation of new or modified reinsurance treaties with internal (e.g. actuarial, accounting, operations, etc.) and external parties
- Measure, monitor, and report on reinsurance exposures
- Oversee the production reinsurance settlement statements, reports, and claims
- Serve as relationship manager with third party reinsurers
- Participate in balance sheet growth activities, including M&A particularly ensuring institutional reinsurance elements are effective and timely
- Manage all the resources involved in the different reinsurance activities, particularly in Actuarial, Finance/Accounting and Operations/Claims

Requirements
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related area
- FSA, MAAA required
- Minimum 15 years of life insurance experience preferred with range of experience, including valuation, financial reporting, and modeling
- Strong understanding of reinsurance solutions for life insurance and annuity products
- Strong understanding of U.S. Statutory and Tax laws, regulations, and actuarial guidelines, including Standard Valuation Law, XXX, and AXXX
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP guidance and practical application thereof
- Familiarity with control design and testing
