IT-Illustration Developer (Python)

Locations: Baton Rouge, LA; Cedar Rapids, IA; Rosemont/Chicago, IL; Remote/WFH


The Python Developer’s role is to design, code, test, and analyze software programs and applications. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. The Python Developer will also analyze and amend software errors in a timely and accurate fashion and provide status reports where required.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Write scalable code using Python programming language.
  • Test and debug applications.
  • Develop back-end components.
  • Integrate user-facing elements using server-side logic.
  • Assessing and prioritizing client feature requests.
  • Integrate data storage solutions.
  • Coordinate with front-end developers.
  • Reprogram existing databases to improve functionality.
  • Develop digital tools to monitor online traffic.
  • Collaborates with project partners to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
  • Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Develops software update process for existing applications. Assists in the roll-out of software releases.
  • Responsible for the researching, writing, and editing of documentation and technical requirements,including evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
  • Keeps current with technological developments within the industry. Monitors and evaluates driven applications and products.
  • Displays expertise in process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Python developer.
  • Expert knowledge of Python and related frameworks including Django and Flask.
  • A deep understanding and multi-process architecture and the threading limitations of Python.
  • Familiarity with server-side templating languages including Jinja 2 and Mako.
  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources into a single system.
  • Familiarity with testing tools.
  • Ability to collaborate on projects and work independently when required.


  • Strong quantitative and problem-solving background
  • Technical knowledge of Server, Desktop, Laptop, and platform operating systems.
  • Technical knowledge of current systems software, protocols, and standards.
  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering,management information systems, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong familiarity with applicable data privacy practices, regulations, and laws.

Physical Demands

  • Normal office working environment
  • Occasional evening and weekend hours to meet deadlines
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to type / perform data entry
  • Ability to read from a computer screen and paper reports
  • Express ideas and otherwise communicate with the spoken word
  • Limited travel (5-10%) may be required
