Summary/Objective
The Accounting Operations Manager is a hands on role supporting key financial processes. This person will be responsible for maintaining internal controls around the financial applications including EAS/IAS, Oracle Cloud Financials, WINGS, Power BI, and Workiva. This position liaisons with IT and the Finance user groups to ensure validity, timeliness, and completeness of information. Additionally, the position entails leveraging technology and best practices to improve efficiencies/effectiveness of the accounting operations. Assistance with reporting may be requested during critical periods, peak times of staff absences and audits/regulatory examinations.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Liaise with process owners regarding business operating guidelines to properly identify impacts on accounting and establish necessary controls
- Ensure proper mapping of third party administrator information
- Oversee loading of third party vendor files, reconciliation, and variance resolution
- Management of period close and year end rollovers
- Coordinate quarterly software patch testing
- Support audit and testing in the following areas:
- User access to accounting systems
- Chart of account maintenance
- Journal entry supporting documentation/authorizations
- Suspense monitoring
- Assist with defining reports
- Document specifications
- Design testing scenarios, conduct testing, and document results
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of related deliverables
- Assist in documentation of accounting processes and internal training
- Make recommendations for improvements in processes in coordination with multiple departments, affiliated companies and TPA’s, present issues and related solutions with resource requirements
- Support development of data warehouse with a focus on future enhancements, ensuring proper data is captured and defined to meet reporting needs
- Participation on corporate projects for improved, consistent reporting across Kuvare

Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Accounting/Finance related discipline
- Strong organizational and analysis skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A minimum of 4 years of insurance/reinsurance accounting experience
- Proven understanding of financial reporting requirement
Skills/Competencies
- Solid project management skills with attention to handling multiple assignments with critical deadlines each month
- Strong understanding of client business, accounting concepts and practice
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related systems, including but not limited to Oracle General Ledger and Accounts Payable modules, Sungard EAS, WINGS, etc
- Flexibility for changing priorities
