In support of this business, KIS is seeking an Accountant to join the Rosemont -Chicago based team. As a direct report to Kuvare Insurance Services’ Controller (KIS), this role will be involved with all aspects of the accounting, reporting and analysis functions related to KIS. You will be responsible for the daily operational tasks as well as the monthly, quarterly & annual accounting duties. In addition, you will be expected to assist with ad hoc requests and participate in accounting projects that may be at the KIS and/or Kuvare level. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
Duties and Responsibilities
Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Manage the accounts payable process (documentation, payment, and recording of invoices)
- Review & approve travel expenses in accordance with the KIS travel policy.
- Record monthly/quarterly journal entries and reconcile general ledger accounts.
- Manage the quarterly Client invoice process (calculate, create, distribute & monitor payments).
- Project quarterly cash needs & process quarterly investor distributions.
- Assist in preparing & distributing quarterly KIS LP capital statements to investors.
- Assist in preparing quarterly and annual financial statements.
- Assist with current year budget analysis & work with KIS Management on future budgets.
- Work with the Tax team to ensure KIS is compliant with state & federal tax filings, including the distribution of 1099s.
- Assist with annual audits & SOC 1 Report exams.
- Oversee & consolidate KIS’ subsidiaries accounting & reporting.
- Assist with ad hoc requests & projects.

Requirements
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance is required.
- 3-5 years of experience in public accounting (with a focus in financial services/insurance), and/or strategic/analytical work within a financial services / insurance business.
- Insurance and/or asset management experience a plus.
- Soc 1/operational controls experience is a plus.
- Audit experience a plus.
- Knowledge of both STAT and GAAP accounting is preferred.
- CPA is preferred.
